A dental filling is used to repair teeth that have been damaged due to decay or minor fractures. At True Dental Studio, we specialize in composite fillings that closely match your natural tooth color. This not only restores the tooth to its original form but also prevents further decay by sealing off cracks or spaces where bacteria can enter.

While amalgam fillings are an option in some dental practices, we choose not to use them for several reasons. In addition to concerns about their mercury content, amalgam fillings can expand and contract with temperature exposure, resulting in fractures. Patients with metal allergies may also have a reaction to them.

Additionally, the silver-grey colour of amalgam fillings is far less aesthetically pleasing than composite options, making them more noticeable when you laugh or smile. Lastly, the placement of amalgam fillings may require the removal of more healthy tooth structure compared to composite fillings.

Our priority at True Dental Studio is to offer safe, effective, and aesthetically pleasing solutions for our patients. Furthermore, our dental fillings are subsidised for Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) / Pioneer Generation (PG), Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholders.

Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases, a dental filling is not painful. Our dentist can also help to apply local anaesthesia to numb the area around the tooth that will be treated. This minimises discomfort during the procedure. If you have a concern, please feel free to talk to our friendly dentist and staff.

The lifespan of a dental filling can vary widely depending on several factors, such as the type of material used, the location of the filling, and your overall oral hygiene. At True Dental Studio, we use tooth coloured fillings, also known as composite fillings. Generally, they can last between 5 to 10 years.

Regular dental check-ups are essential for monitoring the condition of your fillings. Good oral hygiene practices like regular brushing and flossing can also extend the life of your dental fillings.

You may eat or drink right after the procedure. However, if you are under local anaesthesia, the numbness may last for 1-2 hours. It is recommended to avoid hot food during this time to avoid unnecessary burns.
