A dental filling is used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay or minor fractures. At True Dental Studio, we focus on composite fillings that closely match the color of your natural teeth. This not only restores the tooth's original appearance but also helps prevent further decay by sealing cracks or gaps where bacteria can enter.

While some dental practices offer amalgam fillings, we choose not to use them for several reasons. Besides concerns about mercury content, amalgam fillings can expand and contract with temperature changes, which may lead to fractures. Patients with metal allergies might also react to them.

The silver-grey color of amalgam fillings is also less visually appealing compared to composite options, making them more noticeable when you smile or laugh. Additionally, placing amalgam fillings often requires removing more healthy tooth structure than is necessary with composite fillings.

Our goal at True Dental Studio is to provide safe, effective, and visually pleasing solutions for our patients. In addition, our dental fillings are subsidized for Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) / Pioneer Generation (PG), and Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholders.

Frequently Asked Questions

In most cases, a dental filling is not painful. Our dentist can also help to apply local anaesthesia to numb the area around the tooth that will be treated. This minimises discomfort during the procedure. If you have a concern, please feel free to talk to our friendly dentist and staff.

The lifespan of a dental filling can vary widely depending on several factors, such as the type of material used, the location of the filling, and your overall oral hygiene. At True Dental Studio, we use tooth coloured fillings, also known as composite fillings. Generally, they can last between 5 to 10 years.

Regular dental check-ups are essential for monitoring the condition of your fillings. Good oral hygiene practices like regular brushing and flossing can also extend the life of your dental fillings.

You may eat or drink right after the procedure. However, if you are under local anaesthesia, the numbness may last for 1-2 hours. It is recommended to avoid hot food during this time to avoid unnecessary burns.
